Editorial Standards & Ethics
The Liverpool News Views Team follows a clear set of editorial standards designed to ensure accuracy, fairness, transparency and integrity across everything we publish. These standards apply to all content on the site, including supporter submissions and editor-written articles.
1. Accuracy & Fairness
We are committed to providing coverage that is:
- factually accurate at the time of publication
- fair and proportionate in its description of players, staff and clubs
- clear about what is confirmed fact versus opinion, interpretation or prediction
Where new information changes the context or accuracy of a story, we may update the piece or publish a follow-up. Material errors are corrected in accordance with our Corrections Policy.
2. Editorial Independence
Liverpool News Views is an independent supporter-run publication. Editorial decisions are made exclusively by The Liverpool News Views Team and are not influenced by Liverpool FC, sponsors, advertisers or external organisations.
We do not accept payment to publish positive or negative coverage of individuals, clubs or companies. Any future sponsored content will be clearly identified as advertising or promotion.
3. Use of Sources & Attribution
When referencing external information, our editors assess:
- the reliability and track record of the source
- whether the information is corroborated by reputable outlets or official channels
- whether claims should be labelled as “reported”, “expected”, “speculated”, or “confirmed”
We do not present anonymous tips, unverified claims or uncorroborated social content as established fact. When quoting or referencing other publications, we attribute them clearly.
4. Use of AI & Assisted Tools
We may use AI-assisted tools to support clarity, grammar and structure. However:
- AI is never used to generate unverified information, fabricated transfer stories or invented statistics
- all articles undergo human editorial review before publication
- AI does not make autonomous publishing decisions
Editorial responsibility always remains with human editors.
5. Supporter-Submitted Content
Liverpool News Views regularly publishes fan-submitted articles. Each submission is reviewed to ensure it meets our standards for accuracy, safety and clarity. Supporter submissions are:
- edited for tone, clarity and readability
- checked for defamatory material, personal attacks or discriminatory language
- revised where factual claims require clarification or contextual accuracy
We may decline or alter submissions that do not meet our editorial requirements.
6. Respectful Language & Safety
We welcome strong football opinion but enforce clear boundaries. We do not publish content that includes:
- personal abuse or targeted harassment
- hate speech or discriminatory language
- defamatory, malicious or knowingly misleading statements
- incitement to violence or behaviour that endangers others
Healthy debate is encouraged; targeted abuse is not.
7. Transparency & Accountability
We believe readers should understand how and why our content is produced. Articles may include:
- clarifications when context is added
- update timestamps on meaningful changes
- links to source material where appropriate
Questions or concerns about an article’s fairness, accuracy or compliance with these standards can be raised directly with our editorial team.
8. Complaints & Editorial Concerns
Readers who believe content is inaccurate, unfair, misleading or in breach of these standards can contact us through the Contact page or email:
