There’s a nagging sense at the minute that Liverpool are heading into one of those summers where nothing feels nailed on. Big names, important roles, key characters in the dressing room – all being talked about, all a bit uncertain. And the way it’s seemingly being handled doesn’t sit brilliantly with everyone.

Salah’s Future And The Quiet Whispers

The biggest cloud, obviously, is Mohamed Salah. The suggestion doing the rounds is that he may already have played his last game for Liverpool. Not something coming from Arne Slot or the players, but from a little higher up the chain, which is exactly what makes it feel so uncomfortable.

On one hand it’s surprising, because of how central Salah has been for years. On the other hand, given where the club is now and the constant talk about squad evolution, you can almost see how these decisions start to form behind the scenes before anyone says a word publicly. That doesn’t mean it’s the right way to go about it, though.

Right now he’s still in the squad and officially a Liverpool player, but there’s that sense of, "let’s see if he actually carries on playing for us" hanging in the air. It’s a strange place to be with someone who has given this much.

Elliott’s Role And Semenyo Talk

Harvey Elliott’s situation feels like another piece of the puzzle. It looks obvious the club are at least exploring different options for him, whether that’s a change of role, a loan, or something more permanent down the line. You don’t get the impression his place in the squad is completely straightforward.

Then there’s Semenyo being spoken about as if he’s basically a done deal, even though there are apparently other clubs in for him. That sort of thing just adds to the feeling that Liverpool are trying to move on multiple fronts at once without anything being fully settled.

Mac Allister, Gravenberch And A Midfield In Flux

On top of that, there are murmurings about Alexis Mac Allister looking to leave in the summer. If that came to pass it would be another big swing in a key area of the pitch. When you add in the separate rumours about Ryan Gravenberch potentially moving on as well, it starts to feel like the whole midfield picture could flip quite quickly.

To be fair, with so many moving parts after a long era under the previous manager, a bit of chaos is probably inevitable. But truth is, from the outside it all feels very up in the air: Salah’s future, Elliott’s role, possible ins like Semenyo, and talk around midfielders who only arrived fairly recently. Until the club start nailing some of these situations down clearly, that uneasy feeling is likely to stick around.
